Hi, I have been a member here for over 3 years from my back surgery I had in 2009. I want to say thank you to all those wonderful people who helped me out during that hard time in my life. I am however going down the road again with back pain. I had a 2 level lumbar fusion with all the hardware in April 2009, and now have stenosis in 3 places and another bulging disc. I am of course in a lot of pain again and the doctor wants to go through all of the steps I did last time before surgery... pain meds, physical therapy, shots, then surgery... I am sure you all are familiar with this routine, unfortunately. Anyways, the reason I am writing this post is now the same doctor that did my surgery has me taking A LOT of pills. I take up to 3 750mg robaxin, 3 500mg naproxen, up to 4 percocet 10/650mgs, 1 350 soma, and 1 600mg Neurtonin. I seem to be able to handle all of the meds with no problem, most of them and still work nights... But yesterday was the first day taking the 600mg dose of Neurtonin... (the doctor had me on 300mg for 3 days) and I was a COMPLETE zombie! I felt as though someone or something else was controlling me. I could only get up to get a drink of water, which I was VERY thirsty, and use the restroom. I couldn't talk or anything else. I just sat on the edge of the bed and stared at the curtains for what seemed like forever. I did however manage to send my husband a text to help me... He didn't know what was going on and I am sure it scared him as much as it did me. He just took away my second glass of water and laid me on the bed, even mindful to put a pillow under my knees. Then the position he laid me in, I couldn't move from, I just laid there staring at the ceiling for what seemed like another eternity. If I closed my eyes and tried to sleep the feeling of zombieness was A LOT worse and I couldn't handle it, so I had to keep my eyes open until it passed, which ended up taking over 3 hours!!! I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday morning with my regular doctor, because my amazing husband called and made one after seeing me like that, and I am going to ask the doctor, but I wanted to see if anyone else here has experienced anything similar to that? I know we are all on a lot of different meds to help control our pain, but I won't be taking this one again. UGH!
