Fentanyl patch and Walgreens??

Hello, I was wondering if anyone else has encountered getting thier prescriptions filled at Walgreens? My pharmacist told me that thier distributor for Fentanyl patches and other narcotics lost thier license, and Walgreens will not be able to fill my prescriptions anymore.

  • Something sounds strange there as the only reason a distributer would lose their license is if they were doing something wrong.

I don't know of any shortages around the US for Fentanyl right now...so I would just contact another Pharmacy and transfer your prescriptions there. PLEASE make sure you call and let your Dr. know about this asap so that they are aware you need to switch pharmacies.

  • After a little google searching it appears the distributor for Walgreens in several states were selling oxy on the black market. So now they are not allowed to distribute Schedule II drugs. So this will affect all Walgreens in Florida. I switched my pharmacy to CVS. I found the article in the Wall Street Journal. I am surprised that this was not a big story in the local paper.
  • Back pain,

I am in Fl also and have been using Cvs so I hope no issues.
