I was diagnosed with thoracolumbar scoliosis today. I am confused and upset. I was surfing the net to understand more about it and i came along this forum.
To start with, I'm 25 year old female. I currently started work as a research assistant at a health center where i had to undergo some tests.A chest x-ray was one of them to make sure that my lungs are clear.
My chest x-ray showed clear lungs which made me happy at this point till i read the last sentence " there is a thoracolumbar scoliotic deformity with the thoracic component convex to the right".
I found out its just a curvature in my spine. Honestly, i thought it was no big deal but i decided to check it out so i went to an- Ortho. specialist.
as it is a chest xray he could give me no clear number of degree of curvature. but he estimated it to be more than 15 and less than 29 degrees. He showed me all these physical signs i have of the scoliosos.
He told me its irreversible as im an adult. he just gave me clear instruction on how to sit, walk, sleep and many daily actions in my life. As these actions may decrease the stress in my muscles in the long run. He told me to follow his instructions in order i do not suffer back pains in life.
Well, i was taking all this lightly till i saw the x-ray. i am no Dr but i saw the severity of the curvature. I am upset and confused..
I dont know what to do. I need a solution somewhere somehow. i want to straighten my back again.
