Vertigo/Dizziness

Hey everyone,
I just turned 20 years old a month ago. I recently ended a Worker's Comp case where i had injured my lumbar (herniated disc l4-l5.) They also diagnosed me with mild DDD and have been having neck pain that radiates down my arms. Recently this neck pain has gotten worse and i've developed some ringing in my ears and this awful vertigo. When i walk i feel like i'm starting to teeter-totter. Even typing this i'm feeling like i'm swaying. I also have a constant dull headache.

Is this normal for a herniated cervical disc (i'm guessing that's the cause for the neck/arm pain,) or should i go to the ER and figured out what the heck it is? The neck pain has been for 6 months and the vertigo/ringing has been less than a week. I'm at a loss and also don't have insurance where i'm at currently so doctor visits are expensive. I am also having sensitivity to light and one eye is achey.

Any help or thoughts would be great as i have severe anxiety and have been trying not to freak out :(

Have you had an MRI or xray of your cervical spine? Your symptoms sound exactly like mine before I discovered I had cervical spinal stenosis. Vertigo is the worst. Have you tried applying a heat wrap or ice around your neck? Have you tried physical therapy? I would recommend that you see a spine specialist for your neck so you know exactly what is going on. Good luck and please keep us posted.

I have had an MRI and CT scan but it was of my lumbar when i was first experiencing pain. I have not have one of my cervical area, and i'm worried that i'm just gonna keep adding herniations to my DDD :( I will google Cervical Spinal Stenosis and see what the symptoms are because i have no idea what that is. What was your outcome? Or how did you relieve the vertigo? I can't even sit in class currently. I might go to the ER and have them do an MRI as it's only $150 there compared to $700 i'd pay elsewhere.
  • Symptoms of stenosis vary from individual to individual. Some people have stenosis and have absolutely no symptoms. I was laying on the couch all the time before I ended up with surgery. Surgery helped with most of the pain, but I still get headaches and some dizziness, just not as bad. Unless you are properly diagnosised, no one can help you get better or relieve the pain. I hope you can get to the bottom of this.
