Starting over

June 2005 I had surgery on C5/6 & 7. Had been pain free up until last year. Some days my pain level is 10+ and it is affecting my work and home life. I have seen several different doctors and this last Neuro doc has put me on Neurontin 100mg 3Xday. It does not even put a dent in the pain. :( I had a MRI several weeks ago and it showed that all is fine from my surgery. I have had the EMG test done only to be told by one doc that I would just be a chronic pain sufferer. The pain I am experiencing is identical to the pain prior to my surgery. Left side of neck, down into shoulder blade, down arm and hand. My arm is so weak at times I can barely lift it. IDK what to do next.

  • I think often the mri after a previous surgery does not show issues which can be causing pain, It never seems to be obvious in images, Sadly pain dont show up on any image only structure issues,

This is why many of us find ourself lost when its not clear why the pain is there, Sometimes it helps to get another opinion from another specialist in case the 1 st Doctor is missing something ! The stress from the previous fusion causes more stress on other levels as we already know, So pain could be a sighn of other levels geting tierd of taking all the extra stress put on it !
It seems when that hapens and its not bad yet to the point of needing another surgery, you are back to same situation of alternative treatments and pt or injections to bring down inflammation along with pt and hope for the best ,

Good luck , let us know how things turn out,
