I have problems at my L3/4/5/S1 area with herniations and budging discs, as well as 24/7 sciatic nerve pain and degenerative disc disease.
I've had this pain for over 18 years but it's only up until recently that dr's have started to take me seriously and after begging for years finally got a CT scan which showed the above (I can't tell you exactly what/where my herniations etc are as the doctor has the only copy of the results but I plan on getting a copy for myself)
My question is:
Those just on anti inflammatories and muscle relaxants - what are you on that works for you to either make you pain free, or be able to move about with out the pain impacting too much?
I will need surgery (two doctors so far have told me that is a given) and am on the waiting list with our public hospital, however I don't have my first appointment until June next year.
At the moment I am taking Naprosyn SR 750 and Valium 10mg but it's not doing the job.
The GP & I are going to play with medications in the new year so hearing from people in a similar position and what they're on would be helpful. I think we're going to try Lyrica, but as far as muscle relaxants go the Valium 10mg isn't cutting it any more so I am looking for an alternative rather than upping the dosage (20mg is enough to get me out of pain, I must have built up a tolerance
