SCS Warranty

I was reading another thread this morning when I ran across something that made me curious. The member was referencing their warranty for the BS SCS. They were indicating that they needed to purchase an extended warranty for their hand held device if they wanted to insure that they could get a replacement should the device fail in the future.

I have a Medtronic RestoreUltra Neurostimulator. The warranty on the IPG and leads is 1 year. I was unable to find any references to the external parts in the warranty. However, I did want to mention that my remote has died twice in the past 3 years and Medtronics replaced it each time free of charge. Both replacements were well beyond the 1 year mark.

If you have one of the other brands of SCS, what is your warranty and/or experience when something has gone wrong with your stimulator or external parts?

Just thought this would be nice information to know for those considering an SCS.

Medtronics replaced my remote and antenna no charge after a year.
I have read two post that say another manufacturer charges $1200 for theirs, can that be right.Plugging in the antenna now doesn't look so bad LOL
  • I rarely use the external antenna anymore. I'm pretty adept at syncing then bringing the remote around to change programs, then syncing again. I've even made minor changes to my programs but that takes a little more patience and dexterity.

I read the $1200 remark also. I think as a patient, this is something that you need to take into consideration when looking at the different models. The really cool part about my replacement remotes was that Medtronics overnight Fedex them to me. They also replaced my charging belt cause that broke. I'm really hard on this stuff.
