Off the CHARTS

Hi Spineys,
This flare up or whatever is going on really off the charts. You know those days were it (evil Pain) takes over.
I am still in search of my team of docs. Since the move and lack of great insurance It really is not fun finding new docs.
My hubby wants to pay outta pocket for me to go back see my ortho doc.

I was glad for the move, letting go of 3 story home. And grateful for the move.
Since I have this insurance I see how many ppl struggle, become frustrated depressed. Yes I see my hubby's point, as my other docs, and staff got me in asap, never issue refilling meds that helped.

My frustration is that my doc before was just nice to see him every 6 months for refill and ck up.
But I need answers, this numbing of feet extreme pain in legs, left lower back n hip swollen and when I walk sharp pains in back. It has been over yr. n half since had some of these types of pains.

I get very down (not sure why) when some docs get down right rude. I am human and looking for help NOT DRUGS.

This last guy didn't even want to see my medical journal...(which has my disc, ct scans, xrays) or offer to do another one.
All the last doc such as neuro, rheumo all say to see pain specialist. With no names.

I tried calling the main office (insurance) and well to be nice...they are idiots.
You know when you get that gut feeling this is not normal pains. I don't feel its a fibro flare up, I think its my back.
Sorry for the whine
Just fed up and when I get this bad in pain...I tend to curl up and cry a lot.
Thanks all ahead of time if you have read this

  • I am having one of those pain flair-ups right now too. Mine start Wednesday afternoon with slight muscle spasms then turned into major muscle spasms. Now my lumbar spine, where I have my disc problems, has been relentless with the knife twisting pain. Pain pills will not even touch the pain.

Keep seeing doctors until you find the one.
  • Yes, many can relate to that horrible Pain that dictates your life. Not having a doctor would make you feel so isolated. Is there a chance that your old doctor could suggest a new doc. in your area ? The system in New Zealand had me going to their docs and it was very depressing as I was just a number. My husband was the same lets just pay and find a way to fix you, it made me feel so guilty. Finding this site made a huge difference as the more I read and the more posts asking questions helped me and the support was incredible. Just a thought, is there a physio in your area, they maybe able to suggest a doctor who has an interest in back issues. There are so many "things" available that may help you be more comfortable, pillows, ice packs, heat packs, meditation, relaxation, PT and more. Part of the journey is finding what works for you but your doctor really is your priority, wish I could help more. There are so many really knowledgeable people on this site, none of us are doctors and wouldn't try to be. All I can offer is my support and hope that your flare-up settles real soon. Its funny really but when I first hurt my back there was no way drugs were going to be part of my life. Now I look back at the last 5 years and without a great bunch of doctors, my family and medication, life would be extremely tough. Sorry, I have no magic answers but perhaps others can suggest doctors in your area. The best is the Big Gentle Hug to send to you and know all the people on this site can empathise with your struggle to understand and the desire to learn how to improve your situation - Paula
