Swelling of lower extremities post lumbar Fusion multilevel

I had 2 posterior lumbar fusions. due to complications with the hardware am now experiencing swelling of lower body. Still using tlso brace. The swellings feels worse than the surgery recovery. Does anyone else have this problem post op Fusion

  • Better call the surgical nurse today. I'm sure some swelling is probably normal, but if it has gotten painful, that is probably not quite so "normal". You need to be sure your medications aren't causing problems with kidneys/etc. I'd make the call.
33yo mom of two. My surgical history...preadolescence scoliosis, kyphosis, and a hot mess.... 5 spine surgeries and lots of items added I wasn't born with (titanium, peek, surgical steel). Guess cremation is out. TSA loves me.

  • backache99 and allmetal, thank you for taking time to reply to my post.I am trying to be patient with recovery. I wll follow through with my surgeon. I feel like there is extra "junk in my trunk" lol. The swelling really slows me down. I was thinking maybe the tlso brace is causing the swelling, too.
