I am a 42 year old female who has had a wonderful and healthy life until 6 months ago when I woke with acute abdominal pain just under the left rib cage and closer to the sternum. I was admitted to two hospitals where I underwent every exploritory procedure they could think of. I was prescribed endone for the pain however had to escalate to oxcodone after about 6 weeks. Three months later I finally had an MRI scan performed that showed a 2cm hemangioma in my liver, small cyst in pancreas and multiple hemangioma in veritable body noted........ these multiple hemangioma turned out to be 3 the size of a 20c peice in my lumbar region and one higher up in the thorasic region and three smaller tumors in my lower lumber area. he pain I now feel is throughout my back, stomach, ribs, pain that moves throughout my abdominal area at different times.
I had my GP and general surgeons scratching their heads, not familiar with this condition at all. Finally got to see a neurosurgeon in early Feb 2013 who ordered another MRI and he, too is puzzled as to what to do. Hemangioma is not meant to be painful. There is nothing else in my body that could be causing me so much pain and discomfort. I have not been unable to operate my business for 6 months and my quality of life is non existent. Im currently waiting for my case to be heard by a team of specialists, hoping somebody knows what to do. The more I read on the internet the more I come to realize that there are quiet a few people like me out there with this condition but the DR's do not have any experience with painful cases and it defy's their understanding of hemangioma's. I would really like to hear from somebody who has maybe had some success with some treatment, preferably in Australia somewhere. I will travel anywhere to find some relief. I do not accept the possibility of learning to live with this condition as it stands today. NOT AN OPTION........PLEASE
