I had foraminotomy surgery at levels C 4-5 and C 6-7 two (2) weeks ago (had fusion of C 5-6 18 years ago) and it now feels like I never had the surgery because the pain has returned. I say returned because one (1) week out of surgery the numbness down my right arm was gone and I was having some good nights sleeping. I went for a follow-up and was told to start exercising my neck. Shortly after I started to exercise my neck, the neck pain and arm pain began. The neck pain I am not worried about because it is probable from the 5 inch incision. But the arm pain (tricep, elbow, forearm) I am very concerned about. I thought once the surgeon cut away part of the vertebrae to make room for the nerves, the pain would be gone, but it has returned. I was wondering if the muscles near or around the nerves to my right arm could be causing the arm pain. I have another follow up this coming Tuesday but would like to hear from people who have gone through this. Thanks.
