leg and lower back

hi im wondering what my consultant is looking for, i went to see him regarding pain in my leg thats now worse and i have a very tender point on my lower back, 6 weeks ago he sent me to physio, but theres no improvement, and my pain and tenderness is worse, he didnt say what he was looking for just looked concerned, as usual i looked on the net, and now think its a tumor, i dont know the differences between the pain of a tumor and that of sciatica can anyone enlighten me please?

  • I don't believe anyone would know the difference if pain was caused from a tumor,or just disc problems or stenosis,
No way to know without an MRI as there is many causes for the pain, And tumor would probably not be on top of the list for back and leg pain,

Most common cause is you will read all across the board is disc bulging and possible fracture and so on,
Not to say tumor is not possible , But that would be the last thing I would assume it is,
If it don't get better with all alternative treatments injections would be next but best to find out the direct cause if you feel it is serious,

Have they requested an MRI or any other test for you yet ?

  • Welcome Tina. I'm sorry you are going through this. I think the anxiety of the wait is some of the worst things us spine folks go through. Sometimes its the wait of the surgery sometimes its the wait of the diagnosis. Try to refrain from diagnosing yourself from the internet.... it will only cause you more anxiety. Hope you get your diagnosis and treatment soon.
