lower back pain

im new here and i hope im getting this right so here goes--im amilie. i have osteoarthritis from head to toe i inherited it from my mother. my mother died last june, but hers was mainly in her back. mine is in the neck. i had 2 surgeries already in the neck. 3 out of 6 disks were replaced. i had stenosis. that was taken care of too. now, all of a sudden, i have lower back pain that persisting for 3 days. i do have arthritis there. therees a disk thats gone, but once in a while there was pain. it came and went. now its not going.i also have periferal neuropathy. i was told it was coming from the liver, so i stopped the statins myself. the drs here arent any good. theres 1 neurologist im seing june 14. i hear hes the only one with any brains. i dont mean to insult the drs., but i cannot take the run around anymore. its like you start in 1 place and you end up back where you started and nothing was accomplished.im really doing my own research. i have a neurologist who sent me to a specialist who gave me a med that wrecked havoc in my house.it didnt agree. thats putting it mildly. im lucky im here to tell the story. by stopping the statins on my own because im told this from the liver its not worse. in fact it comes and goes. thats better. before that it ewas forever.i have to talk to my son. ill finish later

I'm sorry that you are having problems with both areas of your spine. You said that you had the discs replaced? With artificial discs? Or did you have some type of fusion surgery?
Have you had a recent MRI or CT scan done to evaluate what might be going on with your lower back? I tend to think that doctors do the best that they can for their patients but there are some things that most doctors are just not equipped to handle, especially when it comes to long term management of some conditions. GP's or primary care doctors are great at handling over all medical concerns, but not so great at handling back problems other than for simple muscle strains and pulls. I'm glad that you are seeing a neurosurgeon soon and he should be able to give you some ideas about how to manage the pain you are having.
Did you talk to your doctor about stopping the statins? We always suggest that the patient discuss stopping any medication with their doctor before doing so, since there may be a reason that he wants you to continue it.
