Reputable and good surgeon for the spine that accepts Medicaid in Central Florida

Hi. My husband needs to have surgery on his back. He has been seeing a pain specialist and has recently had an MRI and xrays & they show severe symptoms that hv gotten worse & only suggestion is to have surgery. We are having trouble finding a good surgeon with Medicaid. So my question is, Is there anyone out there who can give us some input on finding a good surgeon in or surrounding areas of central Florida? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

First let me say welcome to spine-health. Have a look around and you will find many others with your husbands condition whom can aide you along the way. As to your question for a surgeon, if you look at the top of the page you can find a resource that will allow you to search for surgeons by a given zip code. Furthermore you can call your local hospital or visit the ortho floor of the hospital and ask one of the nurses, whom they would use. You can then check to see if they will take medicaid. If you call the hospital you can also find surgeons. Just because they see you doesn't mean you have to let them operate on him. You want to put the most research in the surgeon, and then the procedures they are suggesting. Also be sure to get two opinions. Another good source is to tell everyone you know your husband needs surgery and I am sure someone you know will also have some resources. Good luck and keep us posted on how you get along. Once again welcome to spine-health.
  • Try looking at the web for doctor reviews and see which might match up with Medicaid. I'm not in Florida, I'm in Colorado but this is how I found my amazing surgeon and I have Medicaid too. Also you can see it the doctor has previous patients they will let you contact. If they are hesitant about it, that would be a red flag. Good luck!
