I'm new to this forum. I'm considering in the near future having a multi level spinal fusion (lumbar) surgery and am wondering if any of you out there have had it done or you know of someone who has and what their experience was? I had one level done 11 yrs. ago so I know some of what I'm facing but multi level is a whole different thing.
My condition is scoliosis/kyphosis at 43 degrees, disc degeneration one level above my fusion and 3 levels below, and then a bone spur in the level below my fusion which pokes the nerve when I try to stand up straight. Local surgeons have told me I'm destined to live on pain meds the balance of my life but a surgeon/specialist at Cleveland Clinic is offering a surgical option. I'll be asking him dozens of questions when I see him next but in the meantime I'd love to hear from real people.
Anybody out there with this experience?
