I am a 46 year old active single woman. I have three children 19, 17 and 12. I work full time and am currently going to college full time as well to finish my bachelors degree. I'm BZ to say the least!
My Neurosurgeon has said that I need a Posterior fusion from C2 to T2 with a laminectomy from C3 to C6. I currently have a fusion C4/C5/ The C6 T1 is crushing under the weight of the fusion after 6 years and recently I was rear ended by a semi truck causing C2 to herniate. C2 is pushing so hard on my spine that the Surgeon is worried that I could turn my neck and paralyze. I am currently getting cardiac clearance and pulmonology clearance as I have interstitial lung disease and have had pneumonia 6 times in the last 3 yrs. So I am worried about being on a vent and them not being able to get me off of it.
In addition, I am looing for a second opinion on the type of surgery that I need. So I have LOTS of questions. I cannot find even ONE thing on the net about anyone that has had a C2to T2 fusion...
1) anyone else have a fusion even CLOSE to this magnitude? Problems? Quality of life? Are you able to work still?
2) anyone have any information or experience with Laser Spine Center and Regenadisc ??
Any information and or comments are welcomed.
