cyst within the disc

Hi, following an injury some two years ago, have just been told there is a cyst within the body of the disc, part fluid, part gas, caused by bone spurs within the disc and at the facet joints to the back of the disc and also "drastic" loss of height between C5 and C6. Amazing diagnosis really since my current surgeon says that all of this was evident on x rays two years ago and no-one picked it up. I was actually told twice over that the reason I had pain was because it was my brain playing tricks on me.

Anyway, what I want to know is has anyone else got this? Also, did they get some relief from facet joint injections which I am booked in to have in August. My consistent symptoms are extreme neck weakness, the feeling that the suspension has completely gone in my neck so that it jars when I walk and a numb ear. I get two weeks of intense pain after trying to do any form of work whatsoever.

Would be glad of responses.

Facet joint injections are done to relieve the pain in the facet joint, which contain small nerve fibers which can cause pain in the joint. If the injections relieve the pain, then the PM doctor may suggest RFA ( radio frequency ablation) which is a burning of the nerve fibers, which can offer pain relief for some weeks, months up to a year.
If I can help to answer any more questions feel free to PM me or ask on the forums.
