hi.. gotta hate them drink drivers

Joined this forum mainly to find answers regarding what can help my mum with her chronic back pain, which she got from a car accident couple of years back. It was the other drivers birthday and was 3x over the legal limit, fell asleep and drove into my mums car. Please people, don't drink and drive!

My mum suffers from the following

L5 /s1 left internal disc bulging. Facet joint hypertrophy causing disc and bone encroachment to the left neural foramina with impingement upon the left nerve root. The spinal canal and right neural foramina are of normal calibre.

L4/5, L3/4, L2/3, L1/2 Minimal degree of posterior disc bulging which has not caused significant narrowing of the spinal canal. The neural foramina are preserved.

THIS report was from probably couple of months ago and recently things have worsen. She's getting another MRI scan soon.

Was thinking of buying her a new mattress and maybe some shoes which "lessen" impact. I will post these on another thread. Anyway have a good day all.

First let me also say welcome to spine-health. Your a good son looking after your mum. As to what is wrong with her and if you should buy her a new bed, that would depend on the current condition of her bed. If her current bed is sagging in the middle, perhaps a new mattress and box spring is in order. Hopefully she is getting pain management to deal with some of the pain. Has she tried any physical therapy to strengthen her back. Walking is a good thing to help her out.

Look around in the lower back pain forum and you will find others whom have similar issues. Hopefully you can get your mum to log on and join in with the other members. We also have a chat section where members log in at all times from around the world. Anyway just wanted to stop by and also welcome you to spine-health.
