Hey everyone, Long story here.... The short of it is that I'm still having bad headaches after my Dural tear repair.
I'm an other wise healthy 31 yo m. I had a L5-S1 Discectomy on June 21. Things were going fine, but a week after surgery I felt something happen in my back and developed CSF leak symptoms when standing up the next day. Went in for my 10-day checkup, but my surgeon was gone on vacation. He is the only back specialist at the Hospital, so the other Ortho suggested that we take a wait and see approach until my Surgeon returned. After suffering terrible Headaches whenever standing for a month, I finally got my Dural tear repaired in a second surgery a week ago (almost a month after the initial Dural tear). I was sent home that day, but my headache symptoms returned a few hours after surgery. My doctor went in for a nother repair 2 days later and inserted a subarachnoid drain to help the tear heal by decreasing pressure on it. The drain never worked and didn't accumulate any fluid. I spent 4 days in Hospital and was discharged yesterday. I am still having significant headaches at the back of my head and eyebrows, and tinnitus/ear pressure discomfort.
Has anyone else had Headache symptoms continue after a CSF leak repair? This surgery was supposed to give me my mobility back, but instead I've been stuck in bed for 5 weeks unable to even walk. I can get around now but the headaches are still debilitating enough that I can't work.
My surgeon thinks my Meninges are irritated - Any suggestions for treatment?
I'd really like to move things along so I can enjoy a bit of summer.
