"Jerk"-ing back sensation with certain movements 6 wks post op?

Ok. So I'm 22 years old and had an l4-l5,s1 anterior approach fusion with plates, screws, cages, and the bmp2 protein with cadaver bone. I'm off all narcotics and am only taking tramadol. The pain has slowly diminished. For whatever reason now, I'm starting to have this sort of jerking back/catching sensation when I step forward too far, lean a little back, lean a little to the left or right, etc and I can figure out what's going on ? Has anyone else had this and is it normal?! It is painful for about the 2-3 seconds it happens. It's almost like I can feel the hardware and it DOESN'T like what I'm doing. I fell about a week ago and was pretty sore after but am feeling better now. While I had this catching sensation rarely before, it's now become a daily (at least 5 or more times a day) type feeling. Frustrated and just wondering if this is a normal or relateable symptom.

  • did you contact your surgeon after your fall and let them know? If you didn't, then you should, especially since you are now reporting this jerking sensation and clicking.......
  • I called my doctors office and they said they'd pass the message along. I still haven't heard anything and its been over a week. I'm sore but much better than before. The jerking/catching sensation hasn't diminished though. I'm in the navy and supposed to return to work in two weeks, so I just want to make sure it's normal before heading back.
