discectomy L4/L5

Could anyone please help.I had discectomy L4/L5 five days ago.when i woke up i had no feeling at all in my right leg which slowly started to come back although i could not walk without holding onto someone.I was told by the surgeon not to worry as it was normal.Thing is its been 5 days now and i am still having to walk with a frame because i am dragging my right foot.I have also started have really bad shooting pains down my leg which are so bad they make me feel sick.Could anybody shed some light as to weather this is part of the recovery.I know its only 5 days but i wasn't told this could happen.

  • I am currently in my 3rd week post op for the same procedure as yourself plus dynamic stabilastiom fitted to my spine. I have not experienced any of these symptoms.

I posted a detailed summary of my recovery to date on here last week check it out should give you an idea of what you should be experiencing. I would definitely be going back to my surgeon though if I was in your shoes.

I was told there was a chance that my surgeon could damage my nerve during the operation (small chance) and the symptoms of this would be a limp foot
