Arm Shoulder and hand pain C spine

I had C3-4 disc removed and they attempted to put a cadaver bone in the space; which my body rejected. I wore a hard neck brace for 6 months and they said it was fine. I do ok for a few years - slight symptoms of arm pain and muscle spasms.

I was hit from behind in a car which cause C4-5 to herniate and the pain was excruciating. I went through many MRIs and pain injections before the surgeon wanted to try a cadaver bone again. I told him the doc before told me I would probably reject and bone graft. He insured me he would use titanium to hold it in place. So here I go again,,,,Guess what? rejection again!!

3rd surgery he fuses my neck from C3-C7.

Now I suffer pain all the time. Was wondering if anyone else feels theses things?

My shoulder locks forward and hurts so bad and this happens multiple times a day.
My bicep hardens and hurts like a Charlie horse.
My thumb locks to my palm,
My knuckles go inward and hurt distorting my hand.
My neck always has a burning sensation.
Arm weakness with minimal usage.
Worse of all I can never find a comfortable position when I sleep...so I don't get much sleep.

  • I don't have those exact symptoms, but when my arm started bothering me again postop, I would have spatic contortions of my hand, My husband said it look like I was "throwing gang signals" MY arm does still curl up into my chest. like patients in coma contract. It is bizarre, I mentioned it to my Dr who thought I was making it up. I mentioned to my PT and she said it a comfort postion, and if you are having pain or muscle spasms you arm will contract. It still happen but I don't mention it, because I am tired of being looked at like I am nuts, Even though the high pain levels make me crazy
