I have been reading many of your posts and I find it all so difficult and heartbreaking. Chronic pain affects every aspects of one's life.
I suffer from sciatic pain leg leg to lower back and it is very painful. I also have middle back pain which doctors say is due to bone loss and that there is not much that can be done for it. I also have severe depression that has not responded to any drugs of any kind for over three decades. The combination is the most difficult thing imaginable.
I try every day to just get through another 24 hours and pray that I will get sleep so that I can get some rest time in between.
Please be gentle with me as I am new and need you all. Thank you.

you will get a warm welcome from all on here and you will find that this is a very well run site and between us all there must be 1000s of years experience of operations /procedure and everything else regarding primarily spine /neck problems ..regarding your depression have you tried swimming ? I find it very relaxing {when I am well enough to swim} ..don't be afraid to ask any questions I am sure there will be many that can answer almost anything .. we can only give our own personal experiences and not express an medical opinion {we get many asking to diagnose MRI./CAT scans and I am sure that many of us could diagnose we can not do so ..just in case we get it wrong ! ..but you will find some very knowledgeable people on here .

I spend a lot of time on here and find it very therapeutic because everyone can relate to me and vise versa. I've been having sciatica and other pain ( seems to change from day to day) for 2 years and I wish I wold have found this site a long time ago.

Like tony said, no one here can make a diagnosis but I have found enough info from other people so I know the questions to ask my Dr. It make my appointments go much smoother.

Thank you all for the welcome.

No, am bedridden due to pain and the depression is so severe I cannot function. Nothing .. no medications or experimental treatments touch it. I have been told that nothing more can be done and I must live with it, but I cannot. It is very very hard to understand unless you have suffered from this kind of pain and it is pain. PAIN IS PAIN regardless of the source: the body or/and the brain.

  • I know you are trying to help me but I am saying that nothing has worked. it happens. I have tried it all. I am not asking for pity. Just understanding. I am unable to do any of thee things that you suggest. It is like asking a person without legs to walk.
Just as You can understand that, all I ask is that you understand that after 30 years, nothing has worked. Nothing. I have to live with it and I come here for support in that just as you come here of support in living with what you must live with.
Please, please .. if you do not have what I have, please make no suggestions about what I should do. Surely after 30 years, don't you think I have tried it all? I am not angry, just frustrated. I need to be understood, not told to take a swim or get a dog or do something ... I have been there or I would not be here.
Thank you for understanding. I need ways to cope with WHAT IS! Some of you have pain that can only be controlled to a certain degree or not at all. Please, please understand.
  • My depression is not episodic. It does not pass. It is constant and causing bodily aches and pains. It is actually worse than my chronic pain as it leaves me hopeless. I have checked all the great sites on depression but NO ONE can relate to my condition as most people are helped in one way or another.
I am an anomaly and in severe pain. I hope that helps to explain it.
