L1 spineous process sticks out...is it normal?

Hi. A few months ago I had a burst fracture of l2. It was fixed with metal rods and screws. Since then I have noticed that the spineous prices of l1 seems to stick out about 5mm more that the ones above when I run my finger down my back. It may have always been like this and I maybe haven't noticed. I mentioned it to my doctor (not the surgeon) and he said its probably expected after a fracture but I've seen my x rays and everything seems to be in line. Basically what I'm asking is do the lumber spineous process protrude more that the thoracic?
Thank you

  • My L4-5 sticks out post fusion at L4-L5-S1, but j think it's swollen from my fusion seven weeks ago. It used to be much worse but I do think part of the reason it's protruding is also due to the equipment.
