Hi, I'm a 20 year old female who has been suffering from chronic back pain for almost a year. I only recently got an MRI on my back that revealed that I have tethered cord syndrome where my spinal cord is knotted up in a nerve root bundle and attached to my vertebrae two vertebrae below where it's supposed to be. I also have a lipoma in my spinal cord pressing on it. I was informed that I would require surgery once I saw a spine specialist.
I have been unable to find much information on adult tethered cord surgery. What can I expect from the surgery? How big will the incision area be? What will be the expected recovery period? What have been the experiences of others?
