L5 S!

We just found out our 14 year old daughter has a fused L5S1 . She was born this way evidently and is involved in several sports year round. Seeing Chiropractor now that helped my L5L4 herniated disk pain disappear. She is working on her and is telling us she should be fine long term and will be able to continue sports but will just need to be smarter in how she bends and lifts for the rest of her life and watch her posture when sitting. Anyone have this situation with one of their children who was an athlete?

What specialists have you seen & what diagnostic tests showed the fusion? What specialist advise have you received regarding activities? Is it only the chiropractor giving this information?

I'm sorry, is your daughter in significant pain & discomfort? What treatments is she seeing the chiropractor for & is he alieving her pain? I know we hate to see our children suffer in any way. I hope we can be of help ;-)

  • We have just been to the chiropractor. Good friend of mine. ALso gone over the xray and its pretty obvious that it is fused and that is also where her pain is coming from
  • Why did she have the X-ray & go to your chiropractor to begin with? Is she in pain? If its fused & has always been that way I don't really understand what the problem is. My mother has a stable, natural fusion & has no related issues. It just is..

  • I think everyone is just looking for more information. Her specific symptoms? Who ordered and interpreted the x rays? Have you seen a spine specialist for proper evaluation and treatment recommendations? I think a lot of us ( at least I do) get nervous when chiropractic manipulation is being used for spine issues unless it was a recommendation by your Dr.

  • We went to Chiropractor due to an onset of lower back pain which was new for her. Same person who relieved my pain from a l4 l5 herniated disc. Her pain is coming from her L4 being way out of line and sticking out like a herniated disc. Pain is localized to that area only. Just trying to see if anyone has had this condition who is athletic and continued to play sports with a known fusion at S1L5
