Hi everyone, I'm glad I came across this site. I really feel like this will help me get the support I am needing right now. I am 23 and just had a L-5,S-1 discectomy going on 3 weeks. I have to say the first 2 weeks were worse than I thought it would be. I've started walking a little bit, but it increases my pain. I just feel like I should be doing more and I am getting kind of frustrated. I went from having a really busy life, which I didn't mind at all. I am a full time medical student, into running and swimming, and worked as close to full time as possible. I have been out of work now since October 31st and out of my classes since December. Sports have been out of the question for a while as well. I just want to know how everyone else gets through this "down time" without losing it. And for those who were active before, is there anything that you were able to do to work out? On top of everything else I've gained a few pounds since all of this and it's driving me crazy!? I'm sorry for the rant, but I am desperate and just was hoping someone out there can relate and maybe give me some advice.
