chronic pain in leg/lower back

I have RA and for the past 4 months I have been suffering with a bad pain in my left leg. I have been to the Dr's repeatedly and also seen my rheumy. On my last visit to rheumy, she said it was bursitis so injected my thigh with Depo Medrone. This left me with a terrible headache for a couple of days and no relief from the pain. I went back to the Dr who said it was nothing more than acute back pain and sent me off with some more co-codamol (of which I take everyday for the RA) and some 400mg ibuprofen. Since then the pain has worsened. I have a sharp pain across my lower back and the worse burning pain running down my left leg that I have ever felt. I cannot manage a trip round the supermarket without being in agony and where I could stand for about 15 mins before the pain started, I am now down to a little over 5 mins. Surely if it was something as simple as acute back pain the symptoms would be getting better by now. I am not getting the help I need and I feel a thorough investigation would be more advantageous than clutching at straws. Can anyone help me with this please if you have had a similar pain.
