Has anyone delt with muscle spasms in the butt area after decompression surgery...If so, how long did it take for them to heal.

  • are common after surgery. It is simply the body's reaction to having the muscles cut for the approach to the surgical area. You can always talk to your surgeon about using a muscle relaxer temporarily while you are in the acute post op phase if they become too bothersome.
  • I still get muscle spasms and cramps in my lower legs at 7 months post surgery. I never had them before the surgery but do get them now. Overall, I am much better than before surgery but still have issues.
