26 year old- waiting MRI results

I have been having pain in my shoulder for a few months, went to my doctor and he gave me muscle relaxers which seemed to help. Recently (in the last few weeks) the pain has spread to my neck and partially down my arm and my hand goes numb occasionally. I went to a different doctor yesterday and I had an MRI and X-rays, the X-rays showed that something wasn't right in the C5-C6 region so they ordered the MRI. I will find out Thursday the MRI results, but I am in so much pain. They gave me more muscle relaxers and a methoprednisolone pack for the "pain" and swelling... I am on day two and it hasn't helped. I am having a hard time sleeping at night. I don't know what I should do until Thursday! My shoulder hurts so bad! No matter if I lay down, stand up, or sit down there is no relief. Thursday can't not come fast enough! I have a history of kidney stones so when I say I am hurting I really mean I am hurting! I am a vet tech so I work with animals (large dogs and small dogs) and I am debating what/how I need to tell my boss I need to take it easy for a little while :/ please any advise on how I might could get a little relief so I could get some sleep would be great! Is this something I should be majorly concerned with or should I just calm down?
