2 Weeks - L5-S1 Micro

I am almost 2 weeks out of an L5-S1 Micro discectomy. Up and walking around, though a little pain still standing and such. I wasn't having much pain before the surgery, though a good amount of numbness and tingling. Problem was more that ever 6 weeks when I would start trying to get back into a strengthening/cardio routine it would feel like it would pinch off again -- then I was down for another 4 weeks. The original injury occurred in March of 2013 and I had tried an EPI and it gave me 5 months relief -- but only masked the pain, it didn't fix the herniation. The discectomy didn't occur until a year and a half later and the sciatic nerve seems to have been pinched off the whole time.

Almost 2 weeks out of the surgery, I still seem to have a fair amount of tingling and cold feeling in my calf and foot. Is this a normal occurrence?

Also -- while doing the surgery -- I was informed that the disc had not just herniated but had actually torn. Does this typically mean anything else when it comes to recovery?

Thanks in advance for the response -- follow up soon for the surgery so Im sure Ill learn more then. Just being impatient :)
