In January I ruptured a disc in my lower back (l4-5). After 3/4 months of misdiagnosis I had an MRI privately and found out I had a mild bulge. I don't suffer from pain or numbness in my legs but I do get a weird tingly feeling in my calves constantly. I'm off painkillers the majority of the time and the pain has reduced in the last 8 months. I'm stiff in the mornings and have to do a routine of stretches day and night to avoid pain kicking up. I've lost 1st 9lbs, which will have been pretty much all muscle since I got the injury.
I know there are people on here who are in much worse shape than me. I used to go the gym 5 times a week and get paid to play football. I'm really worried that I won't be able to return to doing the physical activities I love.
Has anyone had a similar injury and recovered to the level that they can go to the gym and play sports? Other than physio is there anything else anyone could suggest to help? What sort of time frame am I looking at for a full recovery?
