So tired of doctors telling me that my scans don't look that bad. And telling me that most people don't suffer any ill affects from the same condition. But not one can explain why I'm in so much pain and why my calf muscles cramp up."Just lose some weight and exercise and you will be fine."..................... Seriously !!!

  • muscle cramps can occur from not having enough potassium and magnesium in your body. Try eating some bananas , they are full of potassium and help my legs cramps immensely.
Stretching the muscles out also helps.
  • Yes you are correct...... I do stretch and eat bananas most days. I'm more annoyed at the different opinions of different doctors. Some say disc bulge, some say herniated and some say prolapsed. My frustration is that my GP has said it is something that needs to be reviewed by a surgeon, but I injured myself at work. So work sent me to "their" specialist and he says it's not that bad and I should just not worry about it. But then says don't lift anything or twist.......ever. Cause it will happen again. So next week I'm seeing a specialist my GP referred me to. No doubt he will have a different opinion. In the meantime I'm chewing tramadol and lyica like lollies......... Just venting...... :) This has been going on for 6 months. Just want an unbiased diagnosis. It's been affecting my home life and not knowing if I will lose my job isn't a whole lot of fun either.......
  • When was your MRI? Do you have a copy of the summary? It should clearly state whats going on with your discs. There's a lot of difference between a mild bulge & a herniation. I'm sorry. I know all this can be incredibly frustrating. Other than the calf cramps, what other pain are you experiencing? If this is effecting your ability to work & function at home it sounds like a lot more than a 'bulge'. Ugh!! I can understand your need to vent! ;-)
