Front thigh pain

Hello everyone . I had pulled a muscle in my lower back hip area . I rested my back for a day and it seemed to be getting better but as the day wore on the pain seem to come back . On my drive back to our work shop I started to feel this pain start to build in my front hip area and start to radiate down the front of my thigh . After getting home the pain just seemed to increase and I couldn't stand or walk for more than a minute or so and the pain at that point would become excruciating to the point I would have to sit down quickly . I ended up going to the ER because of the pain becoming unbearable like someone stabbing me with little knives . My thigh was not sensitive to the touch but a slight touch felt like a pin sticking me .

At the ER they took x-rays and everything "looked fine " and was told to make an appointment with an ortho surgeon , which I did. He gave me a cortisone shot in my back hip area and had me schedule an MRI . The shot helped after about 3 or 4 days but not great .The MRI shows I have some minor disc bulge ,stenosis and mild spinal canal stenosis .Of course this is a condensed version of the finding and all in the lower spine . Is this pain from the pressure on a nerve ? The thigh and hip pain has gotten better over the last few weeks but I am in no means able to get back work .I have been using ibuprofen and heat and cold packs but it's near impossible to sleep more than a few hours at a time. Any comments or suggestions about pain management is appreciated. Also I have a follow up appointment with my ortho surgeon in a few days and any suggestions for the next step would be helpful .thanks.
