L5/S1 operation and sciatica after

AGS1953AAGS1953 Posts: 1
Hi all, my wife 59, had L5/S1 operation 11 days ago (2 previous 20 years ago, same location). This time the surgeon inserted an artificial disc
Now she has a strong sciatic pain along the left leg, numbness and tingling on top of the foot. Today we had a meeting with the surgeon that explained us that this is normal, it’s due to muscular contraction in the back and that the pain will disappear in several days. Meanwhile my wife takes 1 g of paracetamol every 8 hours to relieve the pain.

Is that so? Anyone with similar problem?
