I am currently fused S1 to T11 with surgery later this month to fuse T11 to T9 with instrumentation from T9 to L2. So I was wondering what I can expect being fused S1 to T9 as far as further limitations

  • Are with L3-S1 six years ago, and now T12-S1, not exactly like yours, but close. Both of my surgeries went well. During the second, almost seven weeks ago, the old hardware had to be removed because they no longer make it, so for the extended fusion a new type of harware system (rods and 14 screws) were used. Frankly, I did not notice too much difference between the two surgeries. I am pain-free, but somewhat restricted in my movements, no BLT. I still tire easily, but am able to walk up to 40 minutes at one stretch, my surgeon does not want me to do more than that. Dr. would let me drive now, but I don't feel comfortable doing it as long as I can't turn freely. He still wants me to restrict how long I sit to no moe than 45 minutes at the time. If you have any specific questions, ask me.
