My MRI results are as follows C4-5 mild disc protrusion with anterior impression on the thecal sac but no cord impingement or spinal stenosis.
C5-6 slight focal central disc protrusion without cord impingement.
My neck hurts. The pain is worse between my shoulder blades a lot of the time. I have numb finger tips on occasion and I get like electrical shocks that run from the top of my neck down my arm. I also get pins and needles sensations from my right shoulder to elbow. My neck feels stiff and moving in certain directions to fast cause some serious pain at times.
I have only went to my family dr who ordered the MRI. He offered only NSAIDs and pt.. I have not seen any other dr yet but with what the MRI reads what can I expect? Can you explain to me what a mild disc protrusion is and a slight focal disc protrusion.? Is this the source of my pain or should I have MRI on mid back also. Will I always hurt or will this completely heal on it's own? The impression on the MRI states as follows. Disc protrusion at c4-5, and to a lesser extent C5-6. I see no disc herniation or impingement on neural structures. I read online that a disc protrusion was a herniation so I am left with having no idea what this all means.. Thanks

No one is qualified to offer input/treatment on your MRI report. Treatment options need to come from your doctor. It might be wise to consult with a board certified spine surgeon for further evaluation.
