Please help. Ive had left side si joint issues for over a month now. Ive seen a chiro 4 times in week one. I went to the ER in the second week. Went to a specialist who took x-rays & mri 3rd week. Mri was fine. Xrays showed L4 fractured. But I KNOW & my physical therapist know its my si joint. Ive been in so much pain, it is getting better. I missed a month of work & finally the last two weeks have worked & been just delt with being uncomfortable. Im a full time dental assistant. But this week ive already missed two days this week again. Is this normal??? I have a good tolerance for pain, but sheesh. Somebody please tell me im not crazy. I have a great understanding boss. I am just so stressed & need good solid advice. Please???? Im begging.

You need to consult with a board certified spine surgeon for proper diagnosis and treatment options. Allowing a chiropractor to diagnose and adjust your spine, especially if there is truly a fracture is not a smart idea.

  • I have. I didnt let the chiro diagnose me at all. The third week a specialist, aka back surgeon took xrays & ordered a MRI. Im just concerned about my job & is it normal to miss several days with this sort of injury?!
  • Hi! sorry to hear :( Si joint pain can be horrible ... yes, is completely normal to miss days because of the pain. Did you try SI joint injections to help with the inflammation? ice and mobilization exercises?
  • Have you had the diagnostic shots into your SI? I ask because my husband was treated for SI joint problems for a while before they did tests & realized its piriformis syndrome. I've read that the injections of numbing agent are the gold standard of testing the SI joint & you don't mention them.
Have you tried one of the belts? A lot of people swear by them! I've got a LOT wrong with me & can't wear them but everyone else I talk to seems to be using one now & loving the relief they get.

To answer your question..Yes! I think back pain is the leading cause of lost work days...
