I am 35yrs female. I have been suffering from sever lower back pain since Apr 2013. The back pain began when I sprained/strained my sacrum during the end of the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Immediately after the injury I began having various pains ranging from stabbing in my tail bone-feelings of wearing a very tight sock on my right leg. In Aug 14 I began waking up having a lock in my left ankle. I have felt as if bugs were crawling up my legs only to see nothing there.

A recent lumbar spine MRI showed a mild disc bulge on l2-l3 and l3-l4. l2-l3 has an annular fissure and both have central canal stenosis. Recently during sexual intercourse which followed a 1yr abstinence I experienced severe pelvic bone pain. Other symptoms that I have experienced are numbness, tingling, and my feet feeling frost bitten while walking, sitting, laying down, and driving.

Sitting is very painful most of the time my right thigh or butt aches when I rise from a seated position and I walk like I am in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy when I walk after sitting. My feet have changed when walking my heels come out of my shoe but I am wearing the same size shoes I have worn since I was an adult.

I had the left leg shorten after the sprain which I was told by the physical therapist. I have had chiropractic treatments that only seem to cause more pain. I medication dose not stop the pain. The therapy exercises cause more pain.

I need help but no one seems to know what direction to point me in.

It would be very helpful if you could provide us with more details. Here are some questions that you
should answer:

  • - When did this first start?
    - Was it the result of an accident or trauma?
    - What doctors have you seen?
    - What Conservative treatments have you had? Which ones?
    - What diagnostic tests have you had? And their results
    - What medications are you currently using?
    - Has surgery been discussed as an option?
    - What is your doctor’s action plan for treating you?
Providing answers to questions like this will give the member community here a better understanding
of your situation and make it easier to respond.

  • I'm sorry. My heart goes out to you as a single mum. I can imagine the laundry alone would kill me... Especially when I was in acute pain. Life will get in the way. Make sure you get the medical attention you need. Get a second opinion. Document and journal your pain, feelings of numbness, tingling, frostbite (I had that too.. You're not crazy.. It's a weird feeling). Get a serious plan going and get the care you need. I've learned that it won't just go away. You'd probably benefit from some good stretching and heat/ice combo. Being a mum... Single or otherwise is all about having the best spine you can have. I want this for you. You have to put yourself first. Good luck and show those kids how you can overcome adversity. My kids have watched me kick butt over the past 6 months. They've had to help too. I found different ways to do things. And learned how to do things safely when it comes to my spine.
Love your spine! Live your life! Lol...
