Hello, I am new here but have been looking at this site for a while now trying to find someone with symptoms similar to mine. I am a 35 yr old active female who has had neck pain for 4.5 months now. The pain and stiffness is when I look straight up or turn my head to the right and look up. Also its painful when I move my head in the forward position. I notice that when i eat. Its much much worse when I am sitting, especially in the car or at church. When I first wake up in the mornings, I barely notice any pain for the first hour or so, then as the day goes on, it gets worse. This issue started after an accident on a dirtbike where I went over the handlebars and landed on top of my head. And yes, I had a helmet on as well as a neck brace made for dirtbike riding. I saw my chiropractor first and she was unable to resolve the issue. I then went to my PCP which felt it was a muscle injury and he sent me to PT. I have had 2.5 months of PT with 2 different therapist. The first therapist said it was a muscle, but my current therapist feels its joint related. He has worked more with moving the joints around rather than the exercises. I had an xray after I saw my PCP which was good and recently an MRI which only showed some minor degeneration in the lower cervical spine. My therapists doesn't feel the degeneration is related to my issue because most of my pain feels as if its in the upper cervical spine. Most days I have a headache that I feel sure is related to my neck. I have not been to a spine specialist yet, but that is coming soon. Could they possibly see something on the MRI that wasn't caught by the radiologist? I know there is something going on in there and I'm not crazy! Can anyone relate to this issue, or give me an idea on what it might be? Thanks in advance.
