Pain pump - chronic back pain

I am a 28 year old female with severe thermocolumbar scoliosis with chronic pain going on Aprox ten years. I have also undergone a gastric bypass surgery in hopes that losing some of my then 280 pounds would benefit and decrease my pain. This didn't work, now I am malnourished at 90 pounds and the malabsorption from surgery makes oral medications a nightmare. I was taking 90mg Percocet 4x a day and 160mg morphine 3x a day. I decided to get off the narcotics 8 months ago because my quality of life changed from pain all the time to sleep and drool... Now we are discussing a pain pump so we can bypass the stomach absorption problems. My neurosurgeon said I'm too unhealthy for any type of spinal reconstruction surgery so he would like to use the pump while I gain weight and muscle to be prepared for a full reconstruction. I know my situation is different due to the gastric bypass, the oral doses I need to take are ridiculously high. I guess I'm just asking for some peoples experience with the pump and chronic back pain.
