Duplicate Posting is something that goes on here as well in many other forum sites. Those that create duplicate posts are hoping that their message, question, request, etc will get more exposure and get to as many people as possible.
The truth is , that duplicate posting really reduces the amount of responses you will get. When someone creates multiple threads/posts in different forum areas, other members that see the post, can easily get confused as to which of those to respond to.
Then what happens is that you may have some members responding to Thread "A", another member to Thread 'B" and yet another member to Thread "C". At this point, you have lost all thread continuity and you have bits and pieces of information that is hard to pieced together.
I know that so many new members want their question answered, so they feel by posting over and over, the same topic, people will respond.
I wish I could really get the message to everyone, that this is the wrong way to approach forum posting
I have made it a point for members on my team to find those duplicate posts, delete the duplicate, but point back to the one that should be followed.. This way we are helping members get their responses.. After all, this is what they wanted in the first place.
So, please trust us on this one!
