Butans 20mg and 10mg percocet for pain

I have been takingButans 20mg and 10mg percocet for pain for 2yrs, now I have surgery coming up for retrolisthesis L1-L2 and I'm very worried that the doctor will not be able to control the new pain from surgery. Has anyone had any issues with taking a lot of medicine before the surgery and then having a new doctor, a surgeon not giving you enough pain relief because you are already on a high dose?

  • Honestly, a lot of doctors will cut their patients meds before surgery for that problem. I know I have fusion surgery coming up, and I was worried about the same thing. We are taking me off the fentanyl patch (25mcg) with 10mg Norco for breakthrough pain, and putting me on 10mg Percocet every 6 hours instead. I feel a lot better about this pain regimen before surgery. I would talk to your doctor about your concerns...
