I have been with you guys for about 2 years now. I read and try to get all the info I can on everything that pertains to my situation. Well I have not updated for a bit, but this is where I am at.
6 mos ago, my spine doctor could not help me anymore. He said there is nothing that he can do for me. I have had 2 back surgeries, 1st was a fusion L3-L4. 2 years later the rods had to come out, I was allergic to them. I have had nothing but complete pain with all of this. I thought this would fix me all because of a torn disc and a couple bulging discs in my back. So my doctor said I will refer you to a pain managment clinic. So he did, in Indiana, because he works out there, but I live in Illinois. When I went there, they wanted a follow up with a dr to make sure I was not addicted to drugs. Which I can understand. So I did, and now I go every month for my meds.
1st month- they gave me fentanyl patches which was 25 mg. Plus Norco 7.5. The fentanyl did not work, so I waited the following month, as they say give it 2 weeks. I told them.
2nd month- they changed my meds to morphine extended (MS Contin) 30 mg every 8 hrs. Plus the Norco for bt pain. This did not help, but I got through it, and it was tough.
3rd month- they changed my meds to ms contin 60 mg every 8 hours. Plus Norco for bt pain. This did not work also, but again I got through it for the month and told them and all.
4 month- they changed my meds to ms contin 90 mg every 8 hours. Plus Norco for bt pain. I also have been taking Cymbalta for nerve pain that shoots down my left leg all the time. The Cymbalta works well for me. This dosage was finally giving me relief, and I was happy, taking everything the way that I am supposed to.
5-6 month- same dosage everything going well. Except 4 days ago, my meds do not help anymore. I do not know why, but I feel like I am not on anything, but I am, but nothing is helping. Just to let you know, I have a high pain tolerance, do not know why, but I do. On everything, especially when I get my teeth worked on, I have to get more novacaine than normal people usually get, and my dentist knows. But anyway, I thought I would call them today to let them know what is going on. They cannot help me. They told me that I am maxed out on meds and they cannot give me anything else. I told them that I have to go to the ER to get some shots, because I cannot walk hardly. ( and I am on my medication ) They said if I accept meds from them from a prescription, they will not help me no more, which I also understand, I am under a contract. So my question is, Is there any other pain management clinics that can help me and give me more than what I am taking to help me? Also, the pain clinic I go to, I tried to bring my MRI in and they said the dr is not authorized to read it. All I want is someone to read my MRI, because there is something on it, and no one is telling me. Why am I having all this pain? I was planning on getting a 2nd opinion, but I have not had the chance. So I am taking it to the ER tonight, maybe they can read it for me and tell me what is going on. Is there pain clinics that can prescribe higher than what I am taking, or am I at the max and no one will help me? Something has to give. I am not living on pain meds, but I cannot handle no more surgeries, and I feel I will need another one, and I just cannot go through it. What is your advice? Thanks
