muscle atrophy with chronic back herniation

Ive been diagnosed with herniation l3 l4 l5 I believe L5 has 1.5cm protruded no good, anyway anyone noticed any muscle waist syndrome related, Im losing butt muscle and tights as well, I red that perypheral neuropahaty in other words been in pain all the time, can cause this type of situation. I can not do sports or other physical teraphy cause triggers my pain THE ONLY HELPFULL EXERCISE IS IN WATER, SWIMMING POOL, is the least invasive and helpful and low impact since I hand t done any surgery on my back yet. if any one experience some muscle waist let me know mine is going quick in 2 years now i can see pictures before and after and they are dramatically changing.
