BreathTek Test For Stomach

I was not sure where to post this.
Has anyone used this test it is to see what kind of bacteria is in the stomach.
If you have did you have to do any prep before hand?
I have stomach problems after having my Gallbladder removed and this
was a test they had me do. At the hospital they asked if I had fasted for 4 hrs.
and I told them no I was not instructed to do so. She said you can get a false
test result but she said we will do it anyway.
I would be interested please if you know or have had it.
Thanks Sheryl

  • Sounds like an h.pylori test. It's a bacteria that can cause stomach problems and they can either test for it with a breath or blood test. If you have it, it's treatable.

  • Thanks for replying and I have had that which was treated for with anti-biotic.
I was wondering more if anyone had used that test what did the
Doctor have them do like fast etc. before the test.
Have you had stomach issues? They did not give me a hint that it was
possible to have issues after having your gallbladder out.
Thanks for getting back to me, I am really miserable with that on top of
    the back stuff.
  • I'm seeing a surgeon on Tuesday to see if he thinks I need to have my gallbladder out. I am also miserable with back pain so the cramps and pain and not being able to eat due to it my stomach is getting old quickly.

My h.pylori test was done with blood.

  • Thanks tons for getting back to me and I apologize if I forget
your history. It is hell to have all the stuff going on like back,
stomach etc. I hope your apt. goes well with the Doctor.
Have you had this problem for a long time and can I ask
what symptom's you have? I have had this issue forever but
it blew up about a year ago. They put me through all the tests
before a surgeon decided it needed to be removed. The thing
is not one Doc. told me about food after they seriously acted like
there would be no problems. What a shock I am in worse shape now
wish I never had it out but then he said it had too. When I first had
trouble I should have changed my eating, exercise etc. but me too
bullheaded and lazy. Only telling you this to say please get a second
opinion about it all, find the best possible Doctor. I read the stuff on
the internet and family etc. said no big deal, I hope yours goes that
way if you have to get it out.
The breath test thing is a test he said to check to see if any bad bacteria
is in your gut but then I found out they did not instruct me to do the right
prep which made it worthless. I found out too that H plory can hide and the
blood test does not always catch it. I am seeing my Gutt doc. tomorrow.
The surgeon said when you have the surgery
sometimes the anti-botic they give you kills the good bacteria. Anyway it
has been hell and I think it might be part of this new back pain.
Just wanted to let you know some of the stuff I experienced so it can give
you a heads up and if you have any new good ideas or I can help you let
    me know.
    Sorry so long
    Thanks again Sherri
