I have been suffering from several symptoms on my arms, pain on my elbow joints, numbness, skin pain. They finally did an MRI and found that I have herniated disk on my neck which have cause some bone spurs to grow on the sides on them, my dr said if he does surgery he would have to go in, clean the spurs out and then he would have to fuse my disk. I would like to know if any of you have had this problem and if it has helped. Thanks

I have had (cervical spinal fusions). The big question here is, how long have you been experiencing pain? What other methods of treatment have you tried (pt; epidural injections; etc)? I would be very Leary of a surgeon who wants to go straight to surgery without trying non-invasive treatments first. I suffered for 12 years before finding out that I had herniated discs. My surgeon still recommended epidural steroid injections, and when they didn't help, we scheduled surgery, mainly due to the time factor. It helped the original pain, but now Im dealing with chronic pain. If you smoke, quit; especially if you're having surgery. Good luck.
