Hi, my name is Patricia from Mount Washington KY. thanks for creating this whoever did! I am so glad it's here. I am 45, 3 Teenage children,2 girls 15,14 and 1 teenage boy 13, I'm engaged and one 27 year old adult child :) . ...and have a whole list of things I can't pronounce or spell wrong with my spine, from top to the very bottom. All spiraling since I hurt by back almost two years ago and it just gets worse everytime I go to the Dr's. I've been on Fentanyl patches almost every since. I am facing several surgeries and honestly I am scared as hell... I just had a discogram done Wed. the 18th... Versed was ineffective , fentanyl of course didn't work so it hurt like hell , i am in pain 24 x 7... I wanted to know if someone would look at the images and tell me what they though ... I have a million questions but I will read some other posts when I get time before I start firing off questions at everyone... the images are on a program called DICOM viewer... anywhere I can upload those images?

Can you provide us with more details?
Here are some questions that you should answer:

    • - When did this first start?
      - Was it the result of an accident or trauma?
      - What doctors have you seen? (Orthopedic, Neurosurgeon, Spine Specialist, etc)
      - What Conservative treatments have you had? Which ones?
      - What diagnostic tests have you had? And their results (MRI, CTScan, XRay, EMG, etc)
      - What medications are you currently using? (details, dosage, frequency, etc)
      - Has surgery been discussed as an option? (If so, what kind)
      - Is there any nerve pain/damage associated?
      - What is your doctor’s action plan for treating you?
The images from DICOM would need to be saved to your computer before you can upload them. But before you even try that, please keep in mind that there are no medical professionals on this forum side of Spine-Health. It is a forum violation for any member to provide any type of medical advice.

I do give all members one simple piece of advice:

    • MILD Treated with conservative measures such as Physical Therapy and mild medications
MODERATE Some more treatments may be needed, ie Spinal Injections, Ultra sound and stronger medications. Always a possibility of more aggressive treatment if the conservative measures don't help
SEVERE Need for strong medications and the requirement for surgery is probably necessary

  • I think for the most part, pain usually drives one into letting docs dice and slice. It's a awful way to live. My personal opnion is, once your in the club, your always going to be there in one way or another. Pain becomes your companion, and you have to learn how to cope.

    Best of luck.
