Bulging Disc finally diagnosed Injections Begin......

It took nearly 2 years to finally get a Doctor " it was actually a PA in an Emergency room" to finally listen to me and refer me to a Spine Doctor who scheduled me for an MRI of my lower back. It all started with Gerd and Sleep Apnea which were proven to me by a sleep study and an endoscopy. Then came the IBS which was obvious to me by the amount of times I had been using the restroom for years. But then came the visit to my Doc and me explaining the pain seems to start in my lower back but then seems to spread all over. I was sent for some x-rays and blood tests and later diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and put on Gabapentin. I was like Fibro what? But being thick headed I stuck to my guns and when the gabapentin was doing NOTHING I kept going to the Emergency Room and complaining of chest pain and pain all over. It took a few ambulance rides "with my heart racing" and my blood pressure being well in the 200's "both numbers" and already being on blood pressure meds to finally get some real tests done And some referrals and results. MY Pain management Doctor gave me Facet injections in my lower back without an MRI or Cat Scan done. Then to the ER 11 days later in more pain after the facet injections then ever before to find out that my heart was still fine but my CK level was in the thousands. The doctors kept asking me if I had fallen or if I had broke anything. I said nope but I did have some facet injections done for my lower back pain. They told me that shouldn't be it. I then went on to have a Brain MRI done, an angiogram and finally an MRI of my lower back which revealed a "bulg of L4-L5 lumbar disc without myelopathy. IV'e had a MRI of my brain done. Brain and Heart are fine. I just had Epidural Injection ( Lumbar, Cervical, Thoracic, Caudal, Transforminal) done 8:30 a.m. today and am so far in more pain then before again ;-(

The chest pain they think could be Tietz Syndrome. I am going to see a neurologist in may and will be getting a muscle biopsy done. I'm very anxious to read everybody's experiences with these injections..... And who has had to go for surgery eventually....

  • they did a lumbar, thoracic, cevical, and caudal injection all in the same day??? i'm not a dr, but that could be why you are in more pain especially when you say you only have an l4 tear...why did they do all levels? so 5 injections?
  • Before an MRI of my back was even done I had facet injections. Then about a month later and now having the results of the MRI and showing the bulging disc I then had the Epidural injections done. I'm on day 2 of having the epidural injections done and in a lot of pain. ;-(
