Continued Neck pain

This is my first time on this site and after reading what many others are going through I thought I'd join and see what advice people may be able to give me and what advice I may be able to give others.

I had fusion surgery back in December of 2013 after injuring my neck at work. I was a ditch digger for a plumbing company and was exposed to VERY heavy work, Very strenuous work. I had been in construction my entire life but this type of work broke me down quickly! Now that I have had the surgery it's almost 17 months later now and I am still in a great deal of daily pain. The reason I joined this site today was because I woke up at 3 am with extremely bad pain going down my right side from my ear lobe to my elbow. Surgery removed the immediate pain I had in my left side but since then all pain has transferred to my right side. Since the day of the injury nothing has ever felt right in my neck. Surgery helped a bit but did not solve my problems. Has anyone tried other treatment after a fusion surgery that has helped? I am considering acupuncture at this point because I do not want to have the second surgery they are recommending to me. I'm at a loss here dealing with the pain. Flat out sick of the pain! Would like to live a normal life again. Any advice out there?

What did your surgeon say about the pain continuing? Does he want to do more surgery? Is your primary your main doctor regulating your pain meds?
Have any of the docs recommended pain management doctor?
It's terrible to go through the pain you have. I would continue to tell doctor you are suffering like this and ask them what you can do for relief. It seems you may need more real communication with doctor..about what you can do, what you may to live with, and if so how to manage pain in order to be stable.
